Screen Printing 101

Ever wonder why your screen printed designs don’t look the way you intended? There are several factors to consider to include the color scheme, type of material that you intend to use, the way the art was designed, etc. The key point is that there are many factors that influence the overall quality and presentation of your logo, brand, etc.

The color of the garment is the most important thing to consider followed by the colors that you would like to see printed on the garment. The general rule of thumb is to try and print light colored inks on the darker garment colors and dark inks on the lighter colored garments. This is very important when trying to keep the design to a 1 color layout. If you plan to use 2 colors then try to ensure you have a contrasting color “sandwiched” between two colors of similar contrast – for example putting a white color between black and navy.
